Today we were invited to the hotel "La Testuggine" in a small town called Marina die Roseto Capo Spulico. It is located in the very north of Calabria at the sea and is a hidden little oasis that almost nobody knows. Yet it is probably one of the most beautiful holiday resorts we have visited recently here in Italy.

Under the protection of the old castle

Right at the beginning of the village you are welcomed by a defiant old castle, which today houses a restaurant. It is located directly above the sea and forms a hardly comparable photo panorama, which is also well-used by many guests.

Right in front of it there is a rustic rock formation that looks a bit like an upside down pyramid. This is also where the bathing beach begins, that is probably the only small shortcoming of this place. As it is not made of sand but of a rather coarse and a little unpleasant gravel. But this does not prevent neither the local people nor the tourists to make themselves comfortable here and spend the afternoon under their parasols. Unlike usual, there are also smaller and larger activities, such as snorkeling along the rocks. Of course, the usual animation program of some hotels should not be missing. We could not avoid watching a group dancing for a while.

A relatively quiet place in a noisy world

Apart from that, the place captivates by its remoteness and its small size, thanks to which one can still experience real quietness despite the motorway close to the coast. For all those who would like to spend a holiday in Calabria, we can definitely recommend Marina die Roseto Capo Spulico. Also, our hotel "La Testuggine" is definitely recommendable. It is located directly on the sea, separated from the beach only by the small beach road, has large, comfortable rooms with balcony and private bathroom and also a shady outdoor area where you can be outside even at lunchtime without breaking a sweat. In short: for a relaxed and quiet holiday, during which one still gets to see a lot, one is in good hands here.
