Kompass

Kompass

When it comes to European hiking or cycling maps, you can hardly pass KOMPASS Karten GmbH, based in Innsbruck (Tyrol), by. With over 1200 published titles, 700 of which are maps in the hiking, cycling and ski touring sectors, Kompass is Europe's largest producer of outdoor maps.

From the North Sea to the Alps to the Canary Islands, KOMPASS covers all relevant areas. In 1953, surveyor Heinz Fleischmann produced the first hiking map on a scale of 1:50 000, which was called "Berchtesgaden- Bad Reichenhall" and was a huge success! The foundation of the publishing house in Munich followed, the KOMPASS brand was born and has since been synonymous with up-to-date and user-friendly hiking maps with a wide coverage of Europe. From the very beginning, accuracy, timeliness and reader-friendliness have been at the forefront of map production. The epochal idea of "usable landscape representation" developed into a unique success story.
