Icebreaker

Icebreaker

Merino wool clothing from Icebreaker is a natural protection against the scorching hot summers and the freezing winter cold in the rugged New Zealand Alps. No test can be more merciless. Only if nature takes the right precautions will the animal survive. Man is clever, but not as clever as nature. That is why Icebreaker is not working on a better fibre, but is developing the lightest possible all-year-round clothing with merino wool. In 1994 Jeremy Moon first came into contact with merino wool. At that time, outdoor clothing was almost always made of synthetics. Hardly anyone took merino wool as a gift. "Wool is dead", Jeremy was given a roasting at his first sales talk. But things have changed since then. The company is no longer run from Jeremy's bedroom, which is a good thing, because 350 people now work for Icebreaker. The company is still based in Wellington, New Zealand, but has subsidiaries in the USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
