Patriot Memory is an American designer and manufacturer of USB sticks, memory modules, hard drives and other storage media. The company is based in Silicon Valley and produces its components locally on site. Patriot Memory began its work in 1985 under the name PDP Systems, which was formed from the initials of its founders Paul Jones, Doug Diggs and Phil Young. Jones, Diggs, and Young were classmates in high school in Mountains View, California. Jones and Young then attended the University of Davis together, while Dings earned his doctorate at the University of California in Los Angeles. PDP Systems was formed during Jones's student days in Davis as a manufacturer of computer memory chips for dRAM modules for most major PC manufacturers. In 2003, PDP Systems launched its first proprietary memory chip brand, Patriot Memory. The brand prevailed over others and was improved and expanded with each new generation of DDR RAM. Finally, the Patriot Memory brand name was adopted as the company name.
