Kalima Emporium is a tattoo and piercing studio located in downtown Worthing on the south coast of England. It is one of the few studios in Europe where it is still possible to do ritual body transformation processes.
Quentin Inglis, the head of the studio is a profound and spiritual person who has lived in India and Guatemala for a long time and participated in many rituals himself. Among them is a traditional Sun Dance, as it has been practiced by many North American Indian tribes for centuries.
Quentin is a talented man who knows his craft and can do things that you can't get done anywhere else in Europe. He himself is specialized in piercings, brandings, cuttings and body modification. Ear sculptures, i.e. the restoration of intact earlobes, if they are worn out by an earplug that is no longer desired, is also part of his area of expertise.
The studio itself is appealing, friendly and invitingly furnished, so that you can feel comfortable during the transformation processes or rituals. Everything conforms to hygiene standards and appears serious and confident. Only the toilet at the back of the courtyard is a little rustic and reminds of times long past, but this also has its own flair.
Quentin doesn't do tattoos himself, but he has an impressive network of guest tattoo artists who use his studio regularly and from which he can choose the right one for his clients if desired.
You can read about our own experiences with the Kalima Emporium Studio in our travel diary.
Our final conclusion: Kalima Emporium is a competent, serious and at the same time extraordinary studio, which we can recommend to all people who are not just looking for an optical change by a tattoo, piercing or branding, but who feel a deeper connection with it and who strive for a ritual of change in this way.
