BGN Gleichauf Haustechnik GmbH & Co. KG is a traditional company from Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate that manufactures and sells products related to building technology. The history of the company goes back to 1925, when Ernst Gleichauf took over a business in Neumarkt. At first, the goods were still shipped by rail or horse-drawn carts, with the owner first taking over distribution himself by bicycle and later by motorbike. It was not until nine years later that the first office worker joined the company and four years later additional staff and a first warehouse were added. The company grew and prospered until its success was brought to an abrupt and unexpected end by the Second World War. Shortly before the end of the war, the city centre of Neumarkt was destroyed in a bombing raid. Among the 700 buildings that fell victim to the attack was Gleichauf's headquarters at Oberer Markt 11.
But Mr Gleichauf was already used to creating a flourishing business from nothing and so just two years later he was already riding his bicycle again to visit customers. From then on, things went steeply uphill and in 1954, Gleichauf's turnover already cracked the million mark. In the following years, new buildings were erected for the administration and for a shop. And with each new year, the company continued to grow, so that the existing warehouses soon became too small again and had to be replaced by larger ones.

After the death of his parents Margarete and Ernst Gleichauf in 1968, Helmut Gleichauf took over the management.
In 1973, construction began on the current company building in Bahnhofstraße, where there was now sufficient space for an exhibition, administration and data processing, which had been modernised shortly before.
This was followed by the expansion of the product ranges with steel and hardware, industrial tools, construction elements as well as sanitary and heating technology articles, all of which could now be professionally presented and stored. Today, further product expansions in the area of solar and regenerative energies round off Gleichauf's range.
In 2003, the Baumgärtel family took over the management from Helmut Gleichauf as part of the age succession.
As an owner-managed company, Gleichauf has remained true to its claim of offering every customer personal advice, innovative ideas and first-class products. This will not change in the future, because the next generation is already working in the company to ensure a smooth transition.
