Hilleberg

Hilleberg

Shortly after forest worker Bo Hilleberg started his own company, Hilleberg AB, in 1971, he met Renate Neuner during a skiing holiday in Tyrol. There was a huge spark between the two of them. Shortly afterwards they got married and Renate moved to Sweden. The marriage between Bo and Renate was the decisive step towards what would develop into Hilleberg the Tentmaker only a little later. Bo's company initially sold mainly forestry machines, while tent building was only a passionate sideline. As a long-time wilderness hiker, Bo was dominated by tents where the inner tent had to be erected first, and then the loose and wildly fluttering flysheet was pulled over it. So he developed an alternative in which both parts could be erected simultaneously. But he did not have the necessary skills at the sewing machine to put his plan into practice. Now Renate could help out here. She took care of the sewing while Bo took care of design and sales. A division of labour that was and still is extremely beneficial for both of them and for the company. In 2011 Hilleberg celebrated its 40th anniversary.
